Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was born in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner was her father. He was also a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local school. In order to follow in the footsteps of her father, she earned a degree in chemical engineering. To achieve her dream of becoming an actor, she moved to New York. While appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as waitress. She was in a minor part on "Felicity" (where it was that she first encountered Scott Foley). Garner made her debut in Alias, an action thriller. Her first major part was in the acclaimed love story 13 Going on 30. The film featured her as a young woman trapped within a 30years old body. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film, and they continued to look for other projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner became an ambassador of Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. In addition to encouraging early education, literacy, and nutrition at the national level, Garner's role is also to promote national literacy. Garner is a board member on the organization's board since 2014, serves as an advocate for early learning. As an ambassador, she regularly meets with families who are part of the group's Early Steps to School Success program that guides families on how to help youngsters to learn.
